Sabie Chamber of Commerce and Tourism held a day/night golf event on July 6th at the Sabie Country Club. The goal of the event was to raise funds for the upliftment of Sabie town.

“The Sabie Chamber of Commerce & Tourism is a local, independent, non-profit making and non-party-political organisation, funded by membership subscriptions. We are democratically driven by new imperatives, including democracy, economic transformation and non-racialism.

Our mission is to serve the members and community of Sabie; promote and grow the area’s economic and tourism assets; to encourage business economic development by working collaboratively with local businesses, regional government and economic development entities within the Sabie region situated in the Local Municipal area of Thaba Chweu, and to create an environment that leads to the success and prosperity of Sabie.

The SCCT sees Sabie as being the Greater Sabie area, including Harmony Hill and Simile, without distinction, and in that vein we will encourage and assist in the establishment, retention, marketing, and expansion of member businesses that will create and retain jobs for Sabie residents, thereby generating additional revenue and growth for the Town and its people!” SCCT website.

During the SCCT golf day, one could partake in other fun-filled activities as well. Dix van Dam was the lucky winner of the wheelbarrow raffle where the prize was a wheelbarrow filled with alcoholic beverages. A lucky draw competition was also held and an exciting auction. All golf players got a sponsored goody-bag and dinner that was included with registration. Players also had the opportunity to join in on the magical night golf fun. The golf course was filled with candles and lights and every now and again a glow in the dark ball could be seen traveling through the air.

DJ Chillifish delighted the crowd with music and everybody enjoyed the evening thoroughly.
