Graskop Spar has truly shown that anyone can win big if they enter competitions, even if it is their first time. On Tuesday, February 28, a large number of Spar customers gathered outside Graskop Spar to celebrate the official handover of the biggest prize yet. Spar’s 50 days of winning started on November 24, 2016 with prizes up to R650 000 to be won. Among those prizes to be won was a special edition Hyundai i10 which was won by Jessica Malatji.

While waiting for the official hand over, guests were entertained by Sunbake special events. Lots of prizes from Honeydew, Coca-Cola, Sunbake and AVI were won. Hazel Mulder was the first to walk away with a hamper full of Honeydew goodies, followed by Maria Hough also winning a honeydew hamper.

There was lots of dancing, cheering and singing, by both customers and Graskop Spar employees including Karabo well known as ‘the coffee guy’ to his colleagues, who sang and danced on the stage. Special quiz games were held to make sure that no one walked away empty handed.

The winner of last year’s Spar Win a Car, Sibongile Khoza, was also there to celebrate with this year’s winner, “My life changed since I won the car, and I am very happy for her, knowing that her life will also never be the same again” said Khoza.

Malatji told GPS News that all she had to do was buy any Spar product, write her name and her contact numbers at the back of the till slip and drop it into the competition box. “I just saw a box, and thought to myself; why not enter? I was not even counting on winning because I entered once and it was my first time entering a Spar competition,” said Malatjie. “I am so excited, words can’t even describe how happy I am, and this car is surely going to change a lot for me”

Her mother, Refilwe Mashego, was also there to witness and experience the moment with her daughter.
Malatji also expressed her gratitude towards Graskop Spar an owner Raymond Emmerick for changing her life for the better.

Emmerick commented that he couldn’t be happier with the events of the day and making someone’s dream come true. “All that is exciting for me is that, it is a customer from Graskop that won the car, and I am very happy for her,” said Emmerick.
