GPS News was born because of a dream (physical) that I had 7 years ago one night. Being previously employed by Ulusaba News, I did not want to start a newspaper after they closed down. It is very hard work and I rebelled against the idea. Not being so young anymore, I did not really want such a responsibility. However, God had a different plan for me. Although I did not know why I must start the newspaper, in my Spirit I knew I had to.
It was a journey of ups and downs, of laughter and tears, like a rollercoaster ride. Lots of worries but having the faith that it is in God’s will. I have made a promise to God that I will keep GPS News true to His word.
No matter what, I will keep my word until He tells me otherwise.
This week I received a post on Facebook that shocked me, in response to my previous Editorial. It was an accusation that GPS News does not give other religions any acknowledgement and that we are biased in our articles. I want to make it very clear: GPS News is a Christian based good news newspaper, and I do not judge others, but I will not stand back and apologize for my faith. I respect and care for people of all colour, creed or belief.
I will not force what I believe on them but will stand by my faith with all my heart, mind and spirit.
Do we have integrity? Are we liars? Naturally, most of us will probably say “we are not liars with what we do, what we say and that we tell the truth.” If you say you are a Christian, is it in all aspects, or only when it suits you? Do you also use the excuse that I am just a sinner? How many times do you out of sympathy say I am thinking of you and will pray for you?
Do you do it? Is it empty words or do you follow through? If not, it is a lie!
Let me be the first to admit that I often struggle with keeping my word, however not intentionally. Let me tell you if you don’t know already, that I tend to say I will do more than I can possibly do. When someone asks me for help, I tend to say sure…I can do that. And along the way, I find out that it is not so easy. Or I would commit without praying about it. What then? Firstly it is moving in my own will, and not asking the Holy Spirit for guidance.
I am so proud of what my team and I with the grace of God has achieved over the years. I want my legacy to be: “She knew Christ in Spirit and truth; she really tried to live according to His example. She was a woman of her word, and could be depended on.” I will not apologise for what I believe and will as long as it is God’s plan for me, continue with GPS News.
But… the truth is that all of us probably struggle in some way with keeping our word. Usually, my big excuse is always I am too busy…well maybe I am but that does not mean I can be disobedient to the Lord’s word. Let us be honest with ourselves as we open our hearts today and consider ways in which we can live our lives to the honour and glory of our Lord who has redeemed us for Himself.
Zechariah 8:16 – These are the things that you shall do: Speak the truth to one another; render in your gates judgments that are true and make for peace; 17 do not devise evil in your hearts against one another, and love no false oath, for all these things I hate, declares the Lord.
Integrity is the act of behaving honourably, even when no one is watching. People with integrity follow moral and ethical principles in all aspects of life, and they keep their word. I like simple, this is simple. Let your yes be yes and your no be no. Speak words with integrity, and keep your word. When you speak, speak the truth.
Lastly, thank you for every reader that prays with us against attacks to bring us down.
We will not surrender, we will not give up. There is work to be done, the Word must and will go out. There are people hurting that need love and encouragement. I speak of experience; the only solution is Jesus Christ.
In the end, you will stand alone in front of God and have to account for your actions. I do not want to be turned away, that is one of my greatest motivations to be true to His word.
