The 2020 Sabie Classic MTB Race featured distances from a 10 km fun ride to the 105 km Ultra MTB race in the beautiful forested areas of Sabie, Mpumalanga. The Sabie Classic is part of the UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Series ad attracts the elite cycling professionals as well as enthusiasts.
The Sabie Classic is also the last chance for local professional riders to earn UCI points and it provides the perfect distance and topography to prepare for events like the Cape Epic. The shorter distances are ideal for families, the not so fit and the amateur riders alike.
This year, Nico Bell finished the 105km Ultra race in 4:35:14, just four seconds ahead of Wessel Botha. Shaun-Nick Bester completed the podium.
The first five in the Elite men: 1. Nico Bell (4:35:14); 2. Wessel Botha (4:35:18); 3. Shaun-Nick Bester (4:40:08); 4. Gawie Combrink (4:51:16); 5. JC Nel (4:52:17).
