Pilgrim’s Rest is set to buzz over the long weekend of May 1-3 when it will host a wine festival organised by Echo Wine Events.
The main event, the Pilgrim’s Rest Gold Rush Route, will take place from 10:00 to 16:00 on Saturday, May 2. Visitors will be able to enjoy a tasting showcase of products from boutique winemakers, distillers and craft beer producers from across South Africa. For R120 festival participants are supplied with a map, a glass, and an identifying wrist band before they set off to enjoy the tastings.
In a relaxed atmosphere, participants can chat with the exhibitors at six different tasting venues to learn more about their products. While rambling down the main street of this heritage town they can also enjoy the experiences Pilgrim’s Rest has to offer – the historical buildings, museums and tours, street cafés, pubs and restaurants, and discovering the unique artisanal products in many of the shops.
Other activities offered as part of the wine festival include pairings, a safari dinner, breakfasts, and a ghost tour.
Pilgrim’s Rest is the latest addition to the successful annual wine routes presented by Echo Wine Events since 2016.
