“Ever thought it to be possible to work really hard and enjoy the experience?” Magda Campher, owner of Nabana Travel Lodge asked.
This is what Nabana Lodge and Kiaat Bungalows from Hazyview recently experienced at the Travel Marketing Experts SA (TME SA) networking workshop in Pretoria on Tuesday 21 May 2019. “Armed with our slideshows, banners, business cards (and blush…banana leaves and kiaat seeds – affi -plaas you see!), with much trepidation we set forth to Casa Toscana Conference Centre in Pretoria to introduce our businesses to travel professionals,” Magda said.
Founded on December 1st, 2015 by Tammy Kruger and Michelle Andrew, TME SA describe themselves: “We are fantastically well-connected travel marketing enthusiasts that are taking the SA Travel Industry by storm. If you are determined to grow your client base, market share, brand presence, build and maintain those all-important Travel Agent, Tour Operator, PCO and Corporate Travel Buyer relationships and be introduced to a whole new world of opportunity, then you are speaking to the right people! Find out about our workshops and other services.”
The TME SA workshops serve as a valuable marketing and selling tool for travel suppliers to promote their products and services to a large audience of travel industry professionals throughout South Africa. In today’s competitive environment face to face marketing has become so important, not only to create new business opportunities but also to build and maintain industry relationships.
A total of 25 exhibitors attended the workshop which is done in a round robin format where every eight minutes you pitch your product to three Corporate Travel Buyers and/or Travel Agents. “We learned a lot… such as that a bowl of treats on the table is an absolute must! Fortunately, Irma had some sweets in her car and borrowing a bowl from the hotel we complied with this (secret) grade,” Magda continued.
“In all, we managed 24 sessions and 96 travel buyers – and that is a lot of talking! It is an informal event creating opportunities for all attendees to do business, adding lucky draws as a fun element during the morning and lunch afterwards to network some more. After the event, we received the full database of all attendees and post-workshop follow-up has already proved very positive.”
A workshop will be hosted in Mpumalanga for the first time on 23 and 24 July 2019 at Pestana Kruger Lodge. This event is confirmed with 25 exhibitors and +- 80 travel buyers. A further workshop is also hosted in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth. For more information contact Tammy at firstname.lastname@example.org.
