Are you in a space where you are tired, mind, body and soul?

Is life hard and you feel that you are drowning in all you hurt and problems?

We as Christians have our faith in eternal life, but sometimes… it feels it is not enough! Why do we get tired and want to give up?

We believe in God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. When Jesus went back to heaven, we were left with the Holy Spirit. However, our human ears cannot hear Him. Our physical eyes cannot see Him. But that does not mean He is not there.

John 14 v 26: However, the helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything. He will remind you of everything that I have ever told you.
This is Jesus speaking. His words are true and can be believed.

Today, Sunday, 9th June is Pentecost… what is that? The Christian holy day of Pentecost, which is celebrated on the seventh Sunday after Easter, commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:1–31).

Pentecost presents us with an opportunity to consider how we are living each day. Are we relying on the power of God’s Spirit, or are we moving in the unholy trinity of me, myself and I? Are we an open channel for the Spirit’s gifts? Are we attentive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit? Is the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.) present and growing in our lives? Most Christians I know, including me, live in the presence and power of the Spirit, but only to an extent. We are limited by our fear, our sin, and our low expectations, not to mention our tendency to be distracted from God’s work in us, or the ugly stench of unworthiness, as Pastor Phil Robson called it.

If God saw the need for the 120 people in the upper room to receive the Holy Spirit, who are we to think we do not need it? If you are one who believes the Bible is God’s infallible Word, you will know and believe the truthfulness of the account in the book of Acts.

Words from one of my favourite songs:

There’s nothing worth more, that will ever come close
Nothing can compare, You’re our living hope,
Your Presence I’ve tasted and seen, of the sweetest of Loves
Where my heart becomes free, and my shame is undone
In Your Presence, Holy Spirit you are welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your Glory God is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your Presence Lord

If you are tired of trying, stand aside, my dear and allow the Holy Spirit to run your life. It is not easy, we want to be in control, but if you have wisdom you will know it is the only way!
Pray with me to seek His presence! Believe me, once you have experienced the power of the Holy Spirit, you will want more!
