The Board of the Emmanuel’s Children’s Home organised a Bingo evening to raise desperately needed funds. The event was hosted by Canimambo Restaurant in Graskop on Friday evening, March 5th, starting at 18h30 and ended at 21h30.
The Chairperson of the Board of Emmanuel’s Family Home, Barbara Ndlovu, gave a welcoming speech and explained what the home does for the community. Brochures with more information about the Home were placed at all the tables.
Businesses in Graskop and Sabie opened their hearts and freely donated twenty-two prizes to be won during the evening. Bonni Osborne and Gareth Johnson returned their prizes, which is to be used at a future Bingo evening. ‘’We don’t need to go out,’’ Bonni said.
Carla Gibson, a member on the Board of Emmanuel’s in charge of fundraising, said: ‘’ The event was held by candlelight, due to a terrible storm, Graskop was without power from 16.30 – 23.30. I am sure this is a first for the area, Bingo by candlelight! Maybe we can start a new trend. A very big thank you to all the sponsors for the lovely prizes. Congratulations to all the winners. Without your participation, this evening would not have been a success. Thank you all very much.’’ A total of R4 300 was raised.
