Every year, the Reach for a Dream Foundation hosts Slipper Day, and this year it will be their 31st birthday.
“Since 1988, The Reach for a Dream Foundation has brought hope, joy and healing to South African children and their families by offering the child a magical moment to regain their childhood that is being lost to a life-threatening illness. By fulfilling their dreams, Reach For A Dream brings hope, joy and inspiration by offering a magical moment to regain a childhood lost to illness” – Julia Sotirianakos, CEO, Reach for a Dream said.
The Reach for a Dream Foundation has brought hope to over 60 000 life-threatened children across South Africa. A larger percentage of children than adults survive life-threatening illnesses, as children have not yet learnt what life-threatening means. Children live each day that they are given and a positive attitude and encouragement mean everything to them.
Children dream and those children with these very serious illnesses are no different. Their dreams give them hope and courage and the fulfilment of these dreams help them believe in tomorrow. Slipper Day helps raise much-needed funding for the foundation. The money raised is used to help fulfil the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses.
