Are you a ray of sunshine in other people’s lives, or a thundering dark, depressing and negative cloud? Staying positive amidst negative people is very difficult sometimes.
Our world is full of violence, and our daily lives can be marred by conflict and turmoil. We speak daily about the wrongs and injustices done against us. However… God promises His people a peace that surpasses all understanding.
If you have the sort of personality that is always positive and usually see the good in people and situations, it does not come easy as everyone thinks. “Happy” people make a choice every day, every moment of their lives to be that. It is a choice, be better or bitter.
Have you ever wondered how you affect people around yourself? Or do you just not care, or are so deep in your own misery that you don’t realize that people avoid you because of the negative vibe you portray? Always complaining, walking around with hunched shoulders, a permanent frown on your face. Never seeing the beauty in life? Blaming others or situations in life, never looking at yourself that may be the biggest problem in your own life.
Yes, I do realize that not everyone is the same, but have you ever thought that as a so-called “Child of God, a Christian” what your body language and demeanour portrays to non-believers? Do you have peace in your heart that surpasses logic and understanding?
Proverbs 16:7 – “When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies be at peace with him.”
Maybe the answer and emphasis are on the first sentence: When a man’s ways please the Lord… What are your ways, do you have a relationship with God? Is it too much effort to get to know Him for what and who He really is? If you want true peace in your life, you have to let go of only three things! Yip, it is so simple, only three. Me, myself and I. Those three people in our lives are the root of all our problems. We need to stop blaming others for our emotional, physical and spiritual hurts and problems. Grant it, life is not fair sometimes, but we fall into such a deep rut that it is very difficult to get out of it. But God can help you!
When last did you laugh out loud out of your stomach, or just were silly and grateful for all the blessings in your life? Woke up in the morning and through: Wow, I have another day to make a difference, be the change, thank you, God! “But I only have problems and hurt, you don’t know what is going on in my life…” you may think. We all have those, however, how we process it and work through it makes the difference. Focus on the positive, if you do not make the effort to make yourself happy with God’s love and peace, you will never be happy. You can be happy, you must choose to be!
Joyce Meyer, motivational speaker and author wrote a book called: The battlefield of the mind. It taught me to look past my own hurts and hang-ups, and focus on what God created me for, I found my purpose in life, and it definitely was not what I thought. After losing our son to cancer, my whole life changed, because I trusted God to fight my battle. God is our Father, He wants us to be positive and happy, and how you get there is up to you. He gives us the tools and knows how to get through it. We must stop blaming others and look inside and ask God for wisdom and insight on where our problem lies.
Philippians 4:6-7 – “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
I listened to a Christian rap song recently and the words are so appropriate to us walking on the “dark” depressed side: –
“You (Christ) found me in the darkness, wandering through the desert, I was a hopeless fool, now I am hopelessly devoted to You, my chains are broken, and it all because of You.”
We need to put Jesus Christ first in our lives, and stop using Him like a spare wheel. He must be our Steering wheel, otherwise, we will never know a peace that surpasses all understanding. If there is something hurting you, keeping you from living a happy carefree life, seek help to become healthy on the inside. The choice is yours. You are worth it to be happy!
