Hebrews 4:12-13 The Message (MSG) – 12-13 God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. Nothing and no one is impervious to God’s Word. We can’t get away from it—no matter what.
Do you know your tomorrow? I am thinking of the sad tragedy of the 4 children dying and a lot of children being injured, at the school when a cement walkway fell in recently. None of those children expected to die or to be seriously injured. It was just another school day. Never thinking it could be their last.
God says in His word that we have to go out and be fishers of men. Are you? Am I? The one pupil that died father told the people to love the Lord and to be in His will. He had the assurance that his child is now with God. Even through his terrible pain he saw God’s hand in it. He used the opportunity to minister to all present about a God that means what He says.
Do you believe in Jesus Christ as your saviour? Do you believe at all? In His word it says that if you are not reborn, you will not see His kingdom. What is being reborn?
Romans 10: 9-10 …that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
It is that easy, and that difficult. We doubt our very own Maker, always believing there may be a tomorrow, always another chance to make right, some outright just deny Him. Some take our of His word what they want, and not practice the rest. Sometimes out of guilt we try and walk the right road, or because of fear. I honestly don’t think that is what God’s plan was for us.
Please read this verse above again: what you believe with your heart, you WILL be saved, and what you confess with your mouth, WILL result in salvation. Once you achieved that confirmation in your mind and soul, it should be easier to walk the right road with God… nope, unfortunately it does not work like that. It is a constant battle between the old self, and newly found self in Christ. To believe Him unconditionally despite all is not always easy.
We tend to have so many of our own battles and hurts that we do not get to our purpose. Why did God create you? To be a vessel for Him, to be the arms to the people that are hurting, to be His voice speaking life instead of death.
Are you putting His will first in your life? When last did you lead someone to Christ, told them about a Saviour that gave the ultimate sacrifice, the death of His own Son! If you do not do it, you are responsible for a person that may not be saved and condemned eternally. Our promise from God is that if we believe and confess, we will be in His will. We cannot do it half way. Your demeanour and words may either draw someone to salvation, or push them further away from salvation. We speak life or death with our tongues. In the end it is our own choice whether we accept Him or not. Are you or I the vessel that can carry His Spirit to others, showing the lost and hurting the other way?
He is a God of love and comfort! Yes there are things we don’t understand, but with my whole mind, body and soul I know what I know. My prayer is that we will see an opportunity every day to minister and to bring the Word, when we can let go of our selfish and bitter nature, and live like He created us.
Read Corinthians 13, the passage about love. It is not love between a man and women; it is God’s love for us. Can we love others like that? I do believe so. Look around you, there are so many lost and hurting people. You can be the difference in their life. Are you willing?
