Michele du Plessis

What will the Round Table White River 64 Sabie Tube Race be without the entertainers and music? With the RT/TR 2019 theme, “For the love of Rock” and the line-up of bands, the weekend promise to be…well, rocking good fun!

“Martin Bester is a South African radio and television presenter, musician, actor and MC. He’s been active in the entertainment industry for over 20 years.  Martin is also the lead singer of the SAMA nominated band Kinky Robot and recently released his first solo Afrikaans album ‘Vir Die Eerste Keer’.”*

“Guitar virtuoso Jonathan Peyper has released his power-trio debut album. Undoubtedly one of the greatest up-and-coming musicians and guitarists in the South African Rock and Blues community. Peyper has produced a ground breaking album that educes a swarm of emotions.”*

Joe F. is from Pretoria and is all about the audience. ”In our shows, we don’t only play our own music and we don’t only play Afrikaans,” says the newest artist in Gallo’s growing stable of Afrikaans artists. ”We mix it up – we give the guys a great show. And because of that, people buy the CD and then the next time we see them, they’re requesting our songs,” Joe F said.*

One of the featured bands, Voodoo Kudu, from Nelspruit, will be playing rock and blues. “We are a bunch of old friends and a new face who have a love of old school rock and roll and mix it in with new songs that get the party started! We’ve been together for just over a year and already have a reputation for playing material that everyone knows but you don’t normally hear the average pub band playing! Voodoo Kudu might be new on the scene but we are the freshest face on local stages!”

Catharsis is a 4 piece band whose music can only be described as ‘Party-Rock Band”. Covering a large variety of music from the Golden Oldies like CCR and Beatles to artists that today’s youth will know and sing along to. Including songs from so many genres in their repertoire, Country, Blues even Rock, nobody will be left wanting.

Back Stage is a rock original and cover band based in Komatipoort, Mpumalanga. “We are 4 man band that covers a wide range of the ’80s, ’90s, current hits and originals of their own. The band has accomplished a lot in it three years of being together and has performed at various festivals and other venues and in doing so has shared the stage with quite a few of well-known South African artists,” Monique Lowther said.
