The annual Sabie Experience is fast approaching and a lot can be expected. As changes are bound to take place, this year their main focus was family affordability as prices have been adapted to suite family budgets. Trying to build a family supported event this year entrants of any caliber can be expected.

The 2018 Land Rover Sabie Experience MTB stage race will take place from the 6th to the 8th of April 2018. “We now offer you more options to choose from: The three stages are, as usual, intended to challenge riders’ fitness, strength, and technical ability on the legendary mountain trails on the very scenic Safcol Komatiland Forests Ecotourism landholdings surrounding Sabie. They are however very “manageable” for average mountain bikers tackling their first multi-day stage race.”

“Novice and Sub-Junior/Youth category riders can cut their teeth for the first time on a proper Stage Race experience by entering the Team Xtra Lite.”

  • Entry: Team Sub-junior/Youth (2 days): R1500 per Team
  • Team Xtra Lite School and Novice (3 days): R2000 per team
  • Intermediate and junior riders can race each other on the Team Lite, which is never a “ride in the park”. The climbs are steep, longer and technicality more advanced single tracks are offered to challenge each other.

Entry: R3600 per team

  • The advanced amateurs and Pro riders can pit themselves against the very steep climbs and technicalities of the much tougher and longer, legendary Solo Challenge routes up to altitudes of 2100m.

Entry: R2700 per rider

“In keeping with our mission to keep race entrants’ family members, local recreational riders and the Sabie community involved, there will be an 18km Fun Ride for beginners and intermediate riders to join in the MTB fun on Saturday 7 April 2018.

There will be optional “chicken run” sections to avoid any technical sections which they may want to avoid. The Fun Ride will start 10 minutes after the Team Extra Lite Race, and riders will be back at the finish to watch the Stage Race winners cross the line.”
