Graskop Conservancy is kicking off the year with bring-and-braai on Friday, February 16th, to which anyone and everyone who is passionate about the environment is invited.
This social event will be held at the house of committee member Hettie Ligthelm at No 71, President Street in Graskop from 17:30. You only need to bring your own meat and drinks and everything else will be provided by the committee. Dr. Ian White will present a short talk on what a Conservancy is all about.
This is a great opportunity to find out more about the work of the Conservancy, meet the people who are already involved and decide if you would like to join in the voluntary work of this dedicated team. If you are planning to attend please RSVP by February 14th to Samantha van Niekerk (e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org or cell: 082 444 5648.)
The Graskop Conservancy’s vision is “To uplift the Graskop and Pilgrim’s Rest area through integrated efforts to improve the ecological, tourism and social environments”. This is accomplished through various projects to conserve and protect the natural and man-made resources in the Conservancy area – and the more volunteers that get involved, the more can be achieved. The annual cost of membership is only R20 for individuals and R70 for businesses.
“We also want to thank everyone who made generous donations towards the Conservancy projects undertaken last year, and especially Canimambo Restaurant, Graskop Information Centre and the Graskop Hotel, whose cash donations only became evident when we saw the bank statement,” said Samantha van Niekerk, Chairman of Graskop Conservancy.
The Conservancy’s AGM for 2018 is planned for March 8 at 18:00 at a venue to be announced.
