The Arabile 2017 Charity Golf Day was held on December 9th, 2017, at the Pilgrim’s Rest Golf Course.  It was organised by local golfers Rodney Mokoena and Obed Mashego, with the aim to raise funds to assist Pilgrim’s Rest school leavers with funding towards tertiary education.

“The day was wonderful, everyone enjoyed it and some were surprised at what we managed to offer,” said Rodney Mokoena. “Unfortunately, the number of players was too small to make a profit after covering costs.”  There were 26 players, some from as far as Lydenburg and Polokwane.  However, Mokoena said that they had learnt a lot from the experience and plan to make this an annual event after encouragement from the Chairman of the Golf Club, Kobus Beetge, and George Jenkins, CEO of Transvaal Gold Mining Estates. During the prize-giving, players were addressed by the local councillor, Mandla Mokoena, who congratulated the organisers for their efforts in trying to give back to the community.

  • Thank you very much for your continued support throughout the years you are doing a great job for our Towns. I would like to know if you can help me write a story about Zamazamas(people stealing gold) at Pilgrims Rest. They are destroying our town and investors are running away.

  • Good to see Pilgrims golf club is still going strong .
Regards to Obed Mashego I am sure he will remember me.
