Understanding and explaining suffering is a difficult task. It’s undeniably one of the major arguments used against the existence and goodness of God.
How can you accept a God that allows small children to be raped and killed, that let a loving parent die, leaving the family destitute?
In my journey in life, I had the same argument, but I thank God that He understood and despite my rejection, still loved me.
When the hard and hurting times come, our faith is often shaken. Having faith and believing in God’s goodness, is a daily decision. Many times, I ask myself, “Is everything really working for my good?” “Is God really working it out in the background?” Then suddenly someone crosses your path and you know that God is alive and He is using you as a vessel of hope and inspiration. Then peace, faith and acceptance comes over me, knowing that He is there!
My prayer is always that my faith will not fail. It’s so easy in the bad times, to have doubt and unbelief. However, these thoughts must not overcome us. You are the only one that decide to be bitter or better. We always have a choice.
I remember the many times that life tripped me, and I fell down. Nevertheless, by knowing my Father intimately, I always have the assurance that He will be and is there for me… and you!
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
It is not to say that it will be easy and after saying these verses, everything is going to change instantly. God works in mysterious ways and He is using our present situation to form us into what He has called us to be and into the image of His Son.
You may not see the light at the end of your tunnel right now, but be assured that it is God’s light and His breath keeping you alive. Be assured that, even though it does not seem well now, it will be well because God is working on our behalf and He is for us.
And if He is for us, who could be against us and succeed?
