An unforgettable match was played on October 11th between Total Service Station (Graskop) and Graskop Taxi Association at the Wilgeboom sports ground.

Total Service Station (Graskop) came into the game as underdogs but eventually surprised their opponent by unleashing a hail of spectacular goals.

Their coach, Michael Mashego, paced along the side-lines urging his players to maintain focus against a very strong Graskop Taxi Association team.

The first goal was a long-range shot and a blind chance from Preach Monareng who caught the Graskop Taxi Association defence napping.

Monareng scored the second goal followed by Noel Mashego who added another point, giving Total Service Station team a 3-0 lead before half-time.

Graskop Taxi Association came back in the second half with a clear intention to take charge of the game but missed many chances to rewrite the score sheet.

Total Service Station rubbed salt into the wounds with a strike from Ndala Chiloane; it sealed the opponent’s fate.

The referee, Johan Mabhoko, was heavily taunted by emotional spectators calling for the final whistle towards the last minutes of the game.

The goals from Graskop Taxi Association were scored by Potso Sidibe, Pono Moroane and Tukisho Mashego.

Joe “Mjomana” Chiloane (Total Service Station team) said that the games are not only based on entertainment.

“The team started ten years ago but suddenly stopped. We want to use sport to encourage unity amongst ourselves as colleagues. We also want to keep fit. We’ll play more games and next on the list is Graskop SAPS,” said Joe Chiloane.

Tukisho Mashego (Graskop Taxi Association) said that the games are played every week on Wednesday evenings.

“We want to go far like other taxi ranks. We play evening games and usually, it’s against Burkes luck Potholes and Matibidi Hospital. We’ll play Mighty Green (Matibidi) next,” said Tukisho Mashego.

Benny Mashego (Total Service Station) was recognised as the man of the match.
