The Quick Wins, a unique intervention which is part of the Penreach Courageous Leadership Development Programme (PCLDP) encourages school management teams to work together towards a common goal without spending a lot of money. Some of the initiatives ranged from bigger vegetable gardens, upgraded fences, an extended admin block and a shelter for an assembling area to fully fledged libraries, equipped science laboratories and even a new ECD centre.
“The idea behind the concept is to create a culture of collaboration, teamwork and partnership between school management teams, parents and the broader community,” said Sanette Mattheus, Director, PCLDP. “The responsibility of quality education does not lay solely with a school principal or teachers. Far more can be achieved when all school stakeholders combine resources and capacity to contribute towards sustainable initiatives that create a favourable learning environment. ”
