Nabana Lodge – So much more

This three star accolade was started in 1986 as a tearoom for travellers. According to knowledge, Nabana Lodge is one of the oldest business names in Hazyview.  For the last three consecutive years Trip Advisor awarded the Lodge a Certificate of Excellence.

In 2016 Nabana Lodge was one of the finalists in the “Sanlam Top Destination Award in the Lodge category. Results are determined by guests, voting online. This year Nabana is has been nominated again for this award, with results expected in September. 

Magda Campher bought the establishment in 2007. She is a soft spoken gentle spirit with lots of energy, which can clearly be seen in the lodge. Experience gained over her career is versatile and some of the businesses she owned was a hardware store and a filling station. 

Thyme Restaurant on the premises is run by professional Head chef, Paul Shepheard, and he is supported wife, Liesl Shepheard, also a qualified chef. Restaurant.  Hours are 7h00 to kitchen closing time of 20h30, Monday to Saturday. “We welcome all visitors and is a popular destination for bikers and travellers to stop and have a breakfast, lunch or dinner. Since 2009 we presented the CANSA Shaveathon on a Sunday specifically for bikers, and it became an annual tradition” concluded Shepheard.

Running a small business in the current economic climate is a challenge, but for the hospitality industry the real challenge lies in giving our guests the ultimate relaxed experience in spite of this, says Campher. A warm welcome and attention to individual needs is what sets you apart. Campher believes in creating a caring environment where guest arrive as strangers and depart as friends.

The lodge is conveniently located on the R40 between White River and Hazyview and a mere 15km away from the Kruger National Park via Phabeni or Numbi gate. Conference facilities are available whilst the beauty of the surroundings lends the location and facilities as an ideal venue for smaller, intimate weddings, including accommodation and catering. It is also a favourite venue for kitchen teas, stork parties and various other functions.
