The 2017 Paradise Rally was held in Sabie, at the Floreat Riverside Lodge, on June 2 to 4. The Rally was held on the site that’s aptly called the most scenic rally site in South Africa. Floreat Riverside Lodge was used for the first time in 2015 and is the perfect rally venue with spacious chalets, hectares of lawns on the banks of the Sabie River for camping and plenty of shady trees.
The normal collection of stalls, selling anything from fidget spinners to the top of the range biking boots and gear, and of course, food stalls. As for entertainment in the bar area, several bands, such as Havanna made sure that there’s plenty of music. During the evening, fire dancers entertained the bikers. The concourse bikes were, as usual, a sight to behold. Custom paint jobs and chrome dazzled the eye and made choosing the most beautiful machine, a difficult task.
Besides the roar of motorcycles and loud music, badges on leathers and tough looking bikers, the one thing that really caught attention, was the relaxed atmosphere and friendliness of all present. Hopefully, the Paradise Rally will be back next year to once again, awaken the sleepy town of Sabie.
