Penreach, together with partners FNB, Halls, Riverside Park and Anglo American have established two Toy Libraries in Msholozi A and D, White River, respectively. The first Penreach Toy Library in Msholozi A was erected at Khula Khula Day Care and provides over 400 children and their caregivers with access to a range of educational toys and books. This opportunity for households to receive toys, and to regularly exchange these, has proven a great success in terms of child development.
The second toy library was opened to the community at Gugulethu daycare centre, White River on Thursday, May 18. The toy library assists the practitioners from the surrounding Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers, as well as non-centre based practitioners from the Umphakatsi Project, to borrow toys and resources to enhance their ECD programme. The Toy Library also assists in training the practitioners on how to maximise usage of the toys and resources to ensure optimal skills development in children.
