The Steval Pumas beat the Vodacom Blue Bulls by eight points at Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria on Saturday, April 22. The final score in the Super Sport Rugby Challenge 2017 game was 31-23 in favour of the Steval Pumas.
Kobus Marais slotted a penalty for the Steval Pumas just after the start of the game, but the Vodacom Blue Bulls replied with two penalties to take a 6-3 lead. Marais subsequently split the uprights again to level the scores at 6-6. Thereafter the Vodacom Blue Bulls scored and converted a try to take the score to 13-6. Marais added another Steval Puma penalty, ending the score at 13-9 at halftime.

The Vodacom Blue Bulls hit back with a successful penalty for 16-14, before they would score a converted try. Rabs Maxwane received a yellow card for a spear tackle on Frankie Hern who scored a try shortly after. The Steval Pumas made two quick tries just before the end of the match.
“I am very happy with the work ethic and the energy in the second half,” said Coach Brent Janse van Rensburg. “They fought to the end and pulled the game through. Obviously, an away game win against the Bulls at Loftus by five points is important and certainly helps in the competition going forward.” The Steval Pumas will play against the Golden Lions in KaNyamazane on Saturday, April 29.
